The Manx Gas Solo Championship Race has been voted ‘Race of the Year’ by a social media website.
The accolade has been awarded by the popular www.roadracingnews,com website by its editor, Stevie Rial who stated on the web page dedicated to the race, (The 2017 Solo Championship Race was) ‘More than worthy of being considered as one of the greatest races in the history of the Southern 100, it had all the elements that make a great pure road race; drama, tension, close fought competition, lap records, bold overtakes and battles between a selection of the world’s best road racers.’
Race Secretary, George Peach said: ‘It is very pleasing that the Manx Gas Solo Championship Race has been recognised in such a way, social media is becoming a valuable way in publicising road racing and to be voted the ‘race of the year’, is a boost as we prepare for our 2018 race meetings.
The 2018 Isle of Man Steam Packet Company International Southern 100 Road Races take place on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 9th, 10th, 11th & 12th July.
